Betül Arım was born in Çemişgezek, Tunceli, where her family lived because of her father’s job. She spent her childhood in various cities and towns in Anatolia. Originally from Edremit, Betül Arım wasn’t good at English in high school. Upon the recommendation of her relatives, she took and passed the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory’s Department of Theatre exam.
In 1973, in her third year at the conservatory, she was admitted to the Istanbul Municipal Theatre. Until her voluntary retirement in 2004, she acted in more than 50 plays such as “Lüküs Hayat”, “Aşk-I Memnu”, “King Lear”, “Susuz Yaz” and “İçerdekiler” She received the Avni Dilligil Best Supporting Actress Award for her role as “Firdevs Hanım” in the play “Aşk-ı Memnu.”
As one of Turkey’s leading voice actresses, Betül Arım has been involved in hundreds of films, TV series and commercials since the 1970s. In addition to several TV Series, she acted in more than 10 films including “Vizontele”, “Yol”, and “Yedi Kocalı Hürmüz”.
She was the host of culture, art, and life programs such as the 80-episode long “Göz Önünde,” which aired on TRT2 in 2006, and the 120-episode long “Betül Arım’la Ben de Varım,” which was broadcast on Tempo TV in 2010.
In addition to her film, television, and voice acting career, she conducts seminars on the “Art of Living” for many different corporations. She is a member of the Actors’ Union of Turkey.
Betül Arım has been performing in her own play, “Dışarıda Hiçbir Şey Var,” for a year, a show that has reached thousands of viewers.
