YAVUZ YÖRÜKOĞLU

Dr. Yörükoğlu grew up in the United States, where he started his education, and graduated from TED Ankara Koleji in 1972.

He received his bachelor’s degree in medicine from the Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1979, followed by specialty training in cardiovascular surgery at the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. After completing specialty training and military service, he had four years of advanced training at Cambridge University, Papworth Hospital, and St. Thomas’ Hospital in the U.K. Yörükoğlu became an associate professor in 1994.

In 2005, he was one of the founders of the cardiovascular surgery department at Ankara Ufuk University, Faculty of Medicine, and became a professor the same year. He left the university in 2012 and currently works at the Medicana International Ankara Hospital.

In addition to building the cardiovascular surgery department, Yörükoğlu, also created the first-ever Lifestyle Medicine program at the

Medicana International Ankara Hospital. The program involves using modern methods for treatment of obesity, and reversing diabetes and coronary artery diseases. Yörükoğlu has published more than 50 academic articles nationally and internationally and authored three books: “Orta Yaş El Kitabı” (Middle-age Handbook), “30 Günde 10 Yıl” (10 Years in 30 Days), and “45’ten Sonra” (After 45).
