Fevzi Özgönül, M.D., embarked on medical education at Akdeniz University, Antalya Medical Faculty in 1979. He began obesity studies in 2002 with his father, Hamit Özgönül, M.D., Professor and specialist in physiology and sports medicine, who had retired as a lecturer at Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Medicine. Fevzi Özgönül opened an aesthetics and beauty center called Dr. Dream in the Ulus neighborhood of Istanbul to carry out the “carboxypuncture” work he introduced in 2004.

In 2008, he conducted a worldwide literature study with support from TUBITAK and determined carboxypuncture as the first treatment of its kind. The same year, he established the Lose Weight with a Smart Body Model under “Dr. Fevzi Özgönül Clinic.” Özgönül has treated more than 10,000 patients to date, using probiotic and prebiotic supplements that he developed. He continues to work in the field of obesity.
